3 Techies — How We Bantered
Paradoxes were one of the ways we got people thinking about concepts on our show. One paradox we did not use is Buridan’s Bridge. And it goes as follows.
Socrates wants to cross a river and comes to a bridge guarded by Plato, who says: “Socrates if you say something true, I will permit you to cross. But if you speak falsely, I shall throw you into the water.” Socrates answers: “You will throw me into the water”. It is clear that Socrates puts Plato in a difficult situation: He cannot throw Socrates into the water because if he did, Plato would violate his promise to let Socrates cross the bridge if he spoke the truth. But, on the other hand, if Plato allowed Socrates to cross the bridge, it would mean that Socrates said an untruth. What should Plato do?

After over three months, 15 episodes, and over 11,000 downloads, we are at the end of Season 1. And I am glad our listeners did not seem to face the same conumdrum as Plato (to listen or not to listen). We have been on India’s top trending podcasts list and have featured on Wynk, Hungama and Jio Saavn. Our Trends 2022 episode even made it to one of the best episodes of the week list on Spotify. The new kid on the block had made its mark.

We like to think of the podcast as Neo choosing between taking a blue or red pill. The blue pill represents continuing to believe that technology is complicated and meant for geeky-looking people hunched over multiple monitors. And the red pill, as in “The Matrix”, represents the liberating feeling that it’s not a big deal; the red pill is 3TB. The podcast covered a broad spectrum of topics from explaining the metaverse, demystifying blockchain, crypto and fintech, Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, and more. It weaved paradoxes, economic theory, and customer insights (let us not forget jokes) to explain concepts in a light-hearted conversational format. You go away believing that you could easily have this chat with your friends. Or you could just have been part of the 3TB banter.
To paraphrase the great Yoda — “Fear of tech is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
